Session Description
This is the first of a three part series on creating interactive content; we encourage you to attend all three. By the end of this workshop you will have experience creating an interactive video in Moodle; you may even walk away with an interactive video to share with your students and peers! We will be using the H5P activity in Moodle to make an HTML5-based interactive video which allows you to add multiple choice and fill in the blank questions, pop-up text and other types of interactions.
Session Agenda
- Presentation of H5P’s interactive video content type.
- Walk through of adding the activity type in Moodle.
- Guided overview of adding multiple choice and fill in the blank questions as well as pop-up text to your video.
- Time to play and ask questions!

Try It Yourself!
One way to get started is by reusing an H5P content type. Download the example interactive video by clicking on Reuse link in the bottom left corner of the content. Now you can upload this file to your Moodle course by clicking Add an activity or resource and selecting Interactive Content for the activity list.
Next, click the “Upload” tab at the top to upload an existing .h5p file. Select a file to upload and click “Use”. The editor will now load and you can start editing H5P content. Here you may edit all fields in the H5P. Saving will update the H5P as well. Use “Tutorial” and “Example” links at the top to learn more about this content type and to see some examples of usage.
Another way to get started is to create a new interactive video in Moodle. In your Moodle course click Add an activity or resource and select Interactive Content. Type “Interactive video” in the Search content types text area, click Details then Use. Here you may edit all fields in the H5P. Saving will update the H5P as well. Use “Tutorial” and “Example” links at the top to learn more about this content type and to see some examples of usage.
